Lola’s in the Breezeway, the restaurant that took over the prime Downtowner space downtown between Wall St. and Brooks St., seems to have closed its doors for good. The restaurant, which never quite seemed to take off despite the prime location, shut its doors a few weeks ago and hasn’t made any attempt to placate confused customers. Recently we walked by and they look to be removing signage as well.

We reviewed Lola’s back in November, 2009, and were impressed with the low prices and Philadelphia-influenced food, including the standout Phillyn steak sandwich. It seems they weren’t quite able to make it work and while we’re sad to see Lola’s go, here’s hoping someone can capitalize on the location with food that draws customers in day after day.
