We double-checked — this isn’t an April Fools’ joke.

Late Wednesday evening, the owners of Neighbor Rotisserie announced they’re shuttering the popular Newport Avenue restaurant, which specializes in rotisserie meats, vegetables, soups and sandwiches.

Neighbor Rotisserie’s last day will be Friday, April 4.

“We are so thankful to those of you who have supported this new venture with us. This journey has been filled with incredible moments, delicious meals, and, most importantly, our amazing community,” the restaurant posted on its Instagram page.

Neighbor Rotisserie was opened in May 2024 by the previous owners of Jackson’s Corner and current owners of Blue Eyes Burgers and Fries. The lunch-and-dinner joint sits in the space once occupied by Kebaba, a popular Mediterranean restaurant that closed in 2021.

Source Weekly readers voted Neighbor Rotisserie, known for its  Mediterranean-tinged flavors, half and whole chickens and fast-casual service, as “Best New Restaurant” in our 2024 “Best Of” contest.

Six months into opening, however, Neighbor Rotisserie experienced a customer slowdown during the shoulder season.

“Times are tough, but we are resilient and have faced many challenges over the years that have prepared us to know when we need to pivot,” the restaurant posted on Facebook.

Owners switched up the menu, adding a bowl option and more sandwiches, such as “The Quagmire,” which features slow-roasted pork shoulder, grilled broccolini, sweet drop peppers, red onion, mayo and the house’s own “Chili Vin,” on an M’s Bakery ciabatta, Source Weekly reported in November. The restaurant also began preparing its fries in chicken fat and topped them with rosemary, garlic and Parmesan cheese.
