Behind a small green door in Bend’s industrial district sits a warehouse bursting with rows of colorful cakes and puff pastries. In the two years since Panaderia y Pasteleria El Moy opened its Second Street location, the bakery has grown quickly. On any given weekend a stream of regulars will flow in and out of the shop, retrieving their custom cakes, danishes, and donuts.

“Business is good,” says Moisés Maldonado, co-owner and operator of El Moy. In fact, business is so good that a second location is expected to open in mid-June in Redmond.

The opening of a Redmond location is a bit of a homecoming for Maldonado and co-owner Alejandra Reyes. El Moy’s headquarters were once in Maldonado’s Redmond home with his small kitchen as the production center. With no storefront, Reyes and Maldonado went door to door. Now, the couple says that they’re elated to bring their cakes and pastries to a larger audience by opening a Redmond location.

“We work hard and our team works hard to get our goods out as fast as possible,” says Maldonado.

“We want to say thank you to our clients and the community for coming in day after day and supporting our business.”
