Jessy Ribordy says this about his Portland-based band, The Chilling Alpine Adventure: “TCAA is a pop rock band that leans cinematic. [We] infuse wistfulness, nostalgia and a twist of retro into our emotionally centered songwriting. If we had to name a band that closest resembles our sound, it would probably be early Coldplay.”
The name of the band was actually the name of a song released by Ribordy’s previous band, Falling Up which wrapped in 2015. He began creating music again a few years ago.
“TCAA is a band of best buds, really,” Ribordy told the Source. He’s the singer/songwriter/keys/bassist of the group. Nick Lambert and Daniel Elder play guitar and Jordan Wood is on drums. Ribordy was writing a new album as a way to release his angst about the past and his new band sort of fell into place.
“Nick, Jordan, and Daniel asked to be part of it because they really wanted to support Jessy and his career as a songwriter/musician. That’s really how the band formed, by friends banding together to show up for their buddy,” the band’s manager, Aysha Ribordy, explains.
In addition to songwriting, Ribordy is a composer for trailers, ads, film and television. His most recent work was composing for the XBOX: Project Helix promo trailer and “A Complete Unknown” movie trailer. But he says AI and streaming services have upended the music industry and touring is expensive, so many bands and artists turn to social media to reach new listeners. That, he says, requires artists to sell their souls to what he describes as cringy algorithms that degrade their talent, so they have a shot at going “viral.”
“If there’s any message here, it’s for listeners and fans to show up so music can survive. Without fans making an effort to support bands, music is going to collapse,” Ribordy says.

Bandmates Elder and Wood live in Bend. They moved from Portland eight years ago. TCAA will perform at Silver Moon Brewing June 26. They just released a new single called “Windswept,” which Ribordy says leans more pop than their typical sound.
“It is especially important right now to be loud about supporting real human artists,” he says.
“Jessy never uses AI in his songwriting; his music is 100% human. Which is a very odd thing to have to define but is becoming increasingly more important as the world of music is being completely disrupted by a new monster,” Aysha says.
