92.7FM Bumps Up the Dial to 92.9

The popular rock radio station is moving frequencies, so change your presets.

If you tuned into 92.7FM -- or 92/7, as the station labeled itself upon taking to the air back in 2006 -- you probably heard something that sounded like alien robots talking over remixed popular rock songs.

The reason is that 92/7 has become 92/9, moving up the dial one click because of frequency issues with another Oregon radio station. I checked with Programming Manager (and Big Lewboski expert) Mike Flanagan at the station and he said they plan to be completely switched over to their new air wave home by either late Saturday night or early Sunday morning.

The station assures us that 92/9 will keep the same format -- which since its inception has meant a wide mix of contemporary rock, mixed with '90s hits and the occasional throwback song -- but will soon introduce a streaming web option.

So fear not, rock radio will not disappear from Central Oregon. And that's good.
