Celebrate 4/20 By Watching Out for Grow Operations, Authorities Say
While some of Central Oregon’s population is for some reason celebrating today (with it being April 20 and all), our area’s drug enforcement officials are taking a different tact for this year’s de facto pot holiday.
The Central Oregon Drug Enforcement released a statement late yesterday — 4/20 Eve, as it’s known to some — asking the regions’ residents to keep a vigilant eye out for marijuana grow operations on public lands, which the multi-agency group says has been a problem in recent years.
Pickathon Announces Lineup Additions: Black Mountain, Grupo Fantasma and more
Today, Pickathon — the eclectic rootsy/indie festival that takes place on a farm outside of Portland — announced additions to its already solid lineup.
Topping the list is Black Mountain, a Canadian rock act with an Americana edge that has been making some waves as of late.
Last Band Standing Contestants Announced
Last Band Standing — the local battle of the bands competition — is back for another year. This year, the shows have moved over to the Century Center for Friday night shows between May 6 and July 8.

The 4 Peaks Music Festival is back on this year and they’ve returned to their original spot out at Tumalo’s Rockin’ A Ranch.
The festival, set for July 15 and 16, currently includes Poor Man’s Whiskey, New Monsoon, Elephant Revival, Acorn Project and several other rootsy acts.

Indictment Made in Fatal Third Street Hit and Run
Deschutes County District Attorney Patrick Flaherty announced today that Brett Lee Biedscheid has been indicted for the hit-and-run death of pedestrian Anthony Martin back in late January.
Biedscheid has long been referenced as a person of interest in the case, but was officially indicted by a grand jury today on suspicion of criminal negligent homicide and “failure to perform the duties of a driver when a person is killed,” according to a press release from Flaherty’s office.
