The father of a man who fatally shot another man on Awbrey Butte in June is the current national president of the Boy Scouts of America.

Wayne Perry, is father of Kevin Marshall Perry, 35, who fatally shot Shane Michael Munoz on June 25, 2012 in what police have said appeared to be a home invasion. Wayne Perry became the national president of the Scouts in May, according to the organizationโ€™s website.

Wayne Perry is also a former vice president at AT&T, a founder of Edge Wireless, which was acquired by AT&T in 2008, an owner of the Seattle Mariners, and a former instructor of business at the University of Washington, according to the University of Washington Foster Business magazine.

Attempts to contact Wayne Perry Wednesday evening were not successful. Calls to the Boy Scouts of America were not returned Wednesday.

According to police, Kevin Perry, and a companion, Amanda Weinman, 33, of Eugene arrived at 2461 NW Awbrey, Kevin Perryโ€™s home, to find the front door forced in. It appears the two entered the home, encountered Munoz, an altercation followed, and during the scuffle Munoz was shot, according to a Bend Police Department press release.

No arrests have been made in the shooting and the incident is still under investigation, said Lt. Ben Gregory, of the Bend Police Department Wednesday.

It remains unclear whether Kevin Perry, Weinman and Munoz were acquainted or whether they had spent time together earlier that day, said Gregory.

โ€œAt this point in the investigation that has not been confirmed,โ€ said Gregory.

No travel restrictions have been placed upon Kevin Perry, said Gregory. And, he said, of the nine recent homicide investigations completed by the department, it is typical for the process to take some time before it is clear if an arrest should be made.

โ€œItโ€™s not uncommon for these to take this long,โ€ said Gregory. โ€œWe are going to make sure we turn over every rock.โ€

  1. Where did you see the video tapes? I keep hearing random things about this situation. Sure is getting interesting. RIP Shane.

  2. Why does it matter what the alleged shooters father did, or does for a living? So now he gets his name drug through the mud? His son may have done the shooting for whatever reason, but why bring the father into the media spotlight? Because he’s a high profile person? Lame.

  3. Its obvious why his fathers name and “status” are brought to light, they have a lot of money and big time lawyers…and the case is still under investigation…

  4. Its obvious why the fathers name and social status are brought up here, hes a billionaire! And they have the money to hire a big time lawyer…and THAT is important information, if you are like me and believe Shane was murdered. He was a good friend. He was a good man and father. JUSTICE will come to you my friend.

  5. I don’t know what happened, but it is rare that someone with money and influence is ever convicted.
Ted Kennedy got off when he left the girl to drown while he ran off and didn’t talk to anyone until the next day.
    I can think of others.
I’m not saying Perry is guilty, I’m just saying that if he is, money and influence buy a lot of lenient favors.
