There’s a new band in Bend called Isles and they’re pretty dang good.

They’ve only played a handful of shows in town so far— most recently at a Rise Up fund raiser at TBD Loft. But with recorded music on the way this summer, these guys are ready to make a splash.

They play VERY ambient beach rock, much like that of San Francisco’s Tycho and it’s quite moving. Their name for it is “Pacific soul.” There is also a touch of avant garde jazz in the style of Balmorhea.

Check out the trailer for their upcoming album below as well as a video from that First Friday Rise Up benefit show.

This type of music is a very welcome addition to our local music scene. Keep checking BENT for more on when you can catch these guys live.

  1. What I saw tonight at the Workhouse in Bend was the most refreshing thing I’ve seen in years. A music fan like me lives his life for nights like tonight. I don’t deal lightly in this level of endorsement. I can’t stop listening to their music at their website: http://www.weareisles.com Guitar lovers, see Isles. Bend is lucky to have them.

  2. no kidding I saw this band last night–we just moved here to Bend and i was rather floored– pretty heady stuff –not even really a style Id claim to love or listen to but I was very impressed–they had a great sound and present very well–obviously a great understanding of electronics but melded deftly with musical talent too– way cool.
