We arrived in Popayan, a beautiful Colombian colonial town, at night. After a long day driving over bumpy roads and long waits at landslides we were beat, but still game for a look around. All of Colombia is in a Christmas frenzy right now. Christmas lights twinkle all over this pretty country, even in remote villages. In the central plaza, I found these pink Christmas decorations. I asked our guide, Jorge Jacobson, to sit on the bench to the bench to give this rather European-looking image a Latin American twist. The poncho he is wearing does the trick. I exposed two seconds at f11 with the camera on a tripod.
