Bend-La Pine Schools will host Oregon Rising at 6 p.m. on May 12 ย at Summit High School. Parents, students and the community are invited to dream the future of Oregon schoolsย during a community gathering that is part of a statewide campaign to communicate local ideas to the 2017 Oregon Legislature.ย

โ€œThis is an opportunity for Oregonians to dream big for the future of education,โ€ saidย Superintendent Shay Mikalson.

Oregon Rising is a collaboration between the Confederation of Oregon School Administrators, Oregon School Boards Association and the Oregon Education Association. The campaign will survey 10,000 Oregonians.

โ€œWe are very interested in learning what Oregonians imagine schools could be if there were no limits โ€“ and then developing a plan of action to deliver on our collective dream for Oregon students,โ€ said Craig Hawkins, COSA Executive Director.
