Soccer fans rejoice. The Portland Timbers will be kicking it in Bend later this month as part of a statewide โ€œmeet the fansโ€ promotion. Timbers players will be at Cascade Indoor Soccer Center Jan. 17 to host a pair of youth โ€œDribble Oregonโ€ clinics for kids ages, 5-13 years old. The first clinic kicks off at 4pm and is geared for children 5-8 years. A second hour-long clinic runs from 5-6pm and is followed by an autograph session with players David Horst and Steve Purdy that is scheduled from 6-7pm.

The tour is promoted by Klamath Falls-based Jeld-Wen and also includes stops in Eugene, Salem and K-Falls.

The Timbers finished their inaugural season with an 11-14-9 record, good enough for sixth place in the Western Conference, but not good enough for a playoff berth. The team, however, racked up an impressive 9-5-3 home record, far exceeding most fans expectations for the upstart squad.
