With the sun shining, this Friday evening offers the ideal conditions for enjoying live music and roaming the streets of downtown Bend for First Friday. Here are our suggestions for a weekend filled with music, brews and sunshine.
Meekoh
Head down to Crux Fermentation Project and enjoy the soul/pop vibes of local favorite Meekoh. I interview Meeko back in my freelance days when his debut album โEvolveโ hit the streets. If youโve been in Bend a long time, you may remember when Meekoh, aka Michael Lewis Martinez, busked in the breezeway. Since then, he was voted Hottest Musician in The Sourceโs Lust List in 2015 and recently released his new album โFire & Diamonds.โ Catch him tonight at Crux from 4:30-7:30pm. Heโll also be performing at the Atlas Cider 4th Anniversary Carnival in the Box Factory at 8pm both tonight and Saturday night. // Friday, June 2, 4:30-7:30pm. Crux Fermentation Project, 50 SW Division St., Bend.
Atlas Cider 4th Anniversary Carnival
Speaking of Atlas Cider, check out their 4th anniversary carnival tonight and tomorrow. The carnival features an 80-foot ferris wheel, the Zipper, High Flying Swings, bounce houses, live music, food carts, ice cream, their new Pineapple-Mango Cider, local beer and more. Rides run you $4. Noon to 11pm today and all day Saturday. // Friday and Saturday June 2-3, 12-11pm. Atlas Cider 550 SW Industrial Way, Bend. No cover, $4/rides.
Dirty Revival
Donโt forget that Portlandโs Dirty Revival brings their soul/funk jams to the Volcanic Theatre Pub on Saturday with opener Haley Johnsen. I profiled the band in this weekโs SOUND feature. Not only do they love each other, they also love performing and are sure to put on a memorable performance. // Saturday, June 3, 9pm. Volcanic Theatre Pub, 70 SW Century Dr., Bend. $10/door.
Scott Pemberton Band
After the Bend Beer Chase, head down to Crowโs Feet Commons for an evening with the Scott Pemberton Band. The band has a wild approach to the guitar and has emerged as a funky and original force in the national festival and club circuit. // Saturday, June 3, 6:30-10pm. Crowโs Feet Commons, 875 NW Brooks St., Bend. No cover.
