The return of Son Volt on this week’s Friday Mixtape!

That’s right, even though I’m a huge Wilco fan, and pretty much worship Jeff Tweedy, I must say the new Son Volt album is very much enjoyable. Home run for front man Jay Farrar on this one! (for those of you who don’t know, Son Volt is the other splinter group from the former Tweedy/Farrar band, Uncle Tupelo.)

As good as their song “Hearts and Minds” is, don’t get too hung up on Son Volt, because this playlist has a ton more to explore.

Like the track “Bornholmer” from the debut album Be Your Own King by Concrete Knives. There’s also some smooth EDM from Flume, French pop by Monogrenade and sweet folk from Wild Child. Oh, and just for fun, we threw in some Justin Timberlake.

Have a great Friday!
