After getting knocked silly in a bad crash at this year’s Tour de France, semi-local Chris Horner is back training again (with a helmet on, no less).

While out on a ride today, I ran into America’s fastest skinny-tire racer. Horner explained that while he was psyched to start training again, he was bummed he’d have to pass up on the upcoming Marathon National Championships here in Bend (Sept. 17).

Since the Tour of California winner is still on blood thinners as a precaution, a crash during the 50+ mile mountain bike race could be really crappy.

Still, good to see Horner is doing okay. We wish him well.
