In another nearly tortuous teasing of summer, Bend’s outdoor music season is starting to further solidify with news that Ivan Neville’s Dumpstafunk has been booked to headline the annual Bite of Bend food and drink festival.

The show is set for Saturday, June 25 in downtown Bend. And it’s a totally free show.

I haven’t seen Dumpstafunk since catching their set at Bonnaroo back in 2006, but I’m guessing that the band hasn’t lost any of its funk in that time. With Neville on the vocals and a supremely talented cast behind him, Dumpstafunk plays a thundering combination of originals and some funk covers, too.

In slightly related news, last year’s Bite of Bend standouts, Rubblebucket, are coming back to town on May 5 to open up the crowd for Ozomatli’s downtown Cinco de Mayo party.
