In case you missed it, KBND dropped its big bombshell this morning, a programming change that the local news and sports station and home to controversial radio host Rush Limbaugh, had been promoting heavily over the past week as a major change for KBND.

The station has been under heavy pressure from some community members to ax Limbaugh over his well-publicized remarks about a Georgetown undergrad student, whom Limbaugh referred to as a โ€œslutโ€ for her efforts to promote access to birth control.

Over the past week, KBNDโ€™s parent company Combined Communications used its other radio stations to promote the closely guarded programming change, a move that Combined described as a major change that KBND wouldnโ€™t have conceived just a year ago.

Listeners who tuned in to hear that KBND had dropped Limbaugh were no doubt disappointed to learn that the stationโ€™s big news had nothing to do with the shock jock. Instead, KBND announced that its expanding its conservative talk line-up, adding former Arkansas Gov. and presidential candidate Mike Huckabee and dropping popular sports commentator Dan Patrick.

That folks is whatโ€™s known as a bait and switch. Then again if you thought KBND, a station that makes its living by pillorying Dems and progressives was going to dump its biggest attraction, you probably had it coming. ย ย

  1. Well KBND is off my listening list. Bow to a few liberal panty wastes. The female in the dust up is associated with Liberals, wants the tax payers to pay for her birth control. If she chooses to be loose with her body then she should pay for her protection and not me. No one is trying to go back to the days of arresting persons for having BC pills but we do not expect to pay for her lack of morals either. Nor do I feel obligated to pay for others children.

  2. Another conservative proving his ignorance. You didn’t even read the article did you? Nor have you paid attention to the actual birth control debate? KBND is off your listening list, for what? NOT dropping hate-monger Rush Limbaugh? Tax payers have NOTHING AT ALL to do with the cost of people’s birth control. The INSURANCE companies do, which are paid for by the individual and their company, not anyone else. And if you don’t want to pay for other people’s children (i.e. welfare) then you should by all means be in favor of insurance companies covering birth control costs.

  3. Dear Mensa finalist, you might want to actually read the post before you start firing off your ill-informed rant.

  4. I like the first commentor’s approach to news consumption. So I’ll give it a try….
WHAT! KBND dropped a bombshell on Rush Limbaugh? He’s an American patriot! You can’t just drop a bombshell on him! And how did a radio station even get their hands on a bombshell? Typical liberal extremists, I bet. Prolly hate America. But is Rush OK? Was he killed in the bombardment? I wish there was a way to know if our hero of the airwaves was OK, but since I care only to read headlines and nothing else, I suppose I’ll never know.

  5. If the truth be known, I imagine Combined Communications is losing money overall in ad revenue, and Mike Huckabee’s syndicator probably charges much less than Rush Limbaugh’s syndicator. Could this be nothing more than a corporate financial decision?
