Finding a good place to watch the FIFA World Cup is always a challenge. The uncertainty of what games will be on, what channels are shown, or — most importantly — what beers are on tap, can make the month-long celebration of sport a nightmare. But several locations in Bend that have you covered for all your World Cup needs. From watch parties to discounted food and drink, here are a few places to watch and enjoy the world’s game.

For morning games, downtown Bend’s Cafe Sintra offers a drop-down projector and additional screens. Decorations already adorn the walls and tables, creating a fitting atmosphere to enjoy brunch while cheering on your team. Despite the cafe’s Portuguese namesake, beverages, and menu items, Team USA games will be celebrated with watch parties, beginning Friday at 6pm. For certain games, the restaurant will remain open outside of the typical hours of 7:30am – 3pm.

Across town on Century Drive, the Commonwealth Pub is more than ready for the next month of matches. Already covered in Team USA paraphernalia, co-owner Colin Gladden says the pub is making some additional changes to its already soccer-centric atmosphere.

“We’re going to set up some TVs outside and extend our viewing areas on some of the bigger matches,” Gladden told the Source. Weekly watch parties for Team USA games will undoubtedly be lively, bringing together soccer fans from around Central Oregon. The Commonwealth will show every game of the tournament, opening early when needed and closing late, with discounted drinks and pop-up food options fueling those late-night games.

The Commonwealth Pub’s patio isn’t the only outdoor viewing area in town. Bend Brewing Company’s lawn will be transformed into a U.S. National Team fan zone throughout the group stage.

“I think the most exciting game is certainly USA versus Paraguay, this Friday night [June 12th] at 6pm,” said Packy Deenihan, owner of BBC.  “I think we’re going to have a big turnout.” Themed cocktails, an outdoor LED megatron, and a comprehensive match schedule will make BBC one of the premier places to watch World Cup drama unfold. Live music will accompany some of the evening games, including Iran vs. New Zealand on June 15.

Of all of Bend’s screens, the River Pig Saloon may have one of the largest. A massive projector dominates the soaring wall immediately upon entry. With international flags strung across the western-themed bar, the saloon is ready for the tournament. Beyond the projector, many smaller screens are prepared to show some of the lower-profile games of the tournament. While the Pig’s hours will not be varying from their regular 11/9:00am – 1am weekday/weekend schedule, that will still include time for the majority of the matches. It’s a guarantee that specialty cocktails and great bar food will make a great accompaniment to weekly Team USA watch parties and more.
