Here's Where Road Construction is Happening This Week in Bend - The Source

The end of Bend’s busy summer road construction season is in sight, but there’s still work to be done. A slew of closures are still in place across town as crews work to finish up projects this fall, according to a recent road construction report.

Almost to the finish line are the Butler Market Corridor Improvements, which will construct a new single-lane roundabout at the intersection of Butler Market and Wells Acres Road, and pedestrian and bicycle improvements on Butler Market between the 8th Street roundabout to Brinson Blvd.

Construction will wrap up in September, according to a City press release. For now, Butler Market Road between NE Brinson Boulevard and Broken Bow will have a westbound lane closure with a detour.

Another roundabout is under construction in southeast Bend. The intersection of 15^th Street and Ferguson Road has been fully closed since June 22 and is expected to open sometime this fall, but the City hasn’t given an exact date.

Perhaps the most central roadwork in Bend will continue on Franklin Avenue, where the City is replacing old infrastructure below the street and resurfacing the road to widen sidewalks and add buffered bike lanes. The project has caused revolving lane closures on Franklin, east of the Bend Parkway. This week, work will continue replacing aging water pipes from 1^st Street to 4^th Street, requiring eastbound traffic closures on Tuesday and Wednesday. On Thursday the work will switch, requiring a westbound lane closure.

After Sept. 3, those closures will continue intermittently, according to the City.

The closures limit through traffic on Franklin, forcing left or right turns at 3^rd Street.

Unlike other projects, the Franklin Avenue work will continue through the winter, and more disruptive closures are yet to come. Starting Sept. 14, work will begin on the Franklin Avenue underpass, requiring a full closure. The underpass will reopen for a month during the holiday season and close again until June of next year.

Elsewhere, work on a new shared-use path is expected to continue until sometime this fall. That will require intermittent lane closures and flagging on parts of 9^th Street, 15^th Street and NE Bear Creek Road.

Extension of the City’s sewer system in northeast Bend will affect parts of Cooley Road through the fall. That includes a one-lane closure between Ranch Village Drive and 18^th Street, and a closure to through traffic on Ranch Village Drive continuing until the end of October.
