Estheticians of Central Oregon are constantly finding ways to help residents achieve and maintain the appearances they want. While their services vary greatly, many of their techniques aim to serve a similar purpose; to keep skin looking healthy and youthful.  But what is currently trending in the beauty world? When interviewed, two local estheticians gave feedback about what people are looking for, and the answers were similar: people want healthy, youthful skin through the use of non-invasive, holistic approaches. In other words, people are seeking to enhance their looks without taking drastic, potentially harmful measures to achieve it.

Melissa Frieden, owner and Master Esthetician of Downunder Waxing and Sculpt+Skin, notes that many of her clients are seeking a more natural look. โ€œOne of the biggest shifts Iโ€™m seeing is that people arenโ€™t chasing perfection,โ€ she says, โ€œtheyโ€™re chasing vitality.โ€ Frieden shared how individual health is moving to the forefront of beauty-based decision making as clients โ€œask better questions, read ingredient labels, research treatments and look for options that work with the bodyโ€™s natural processes, rather than simply covering things up.โ€

The two trending pieces of technology Frieden is currently excited about are NeoGen Plasma Skin Regeneration and T-Shape 2 Body contouring, because they align with what she calls this โ€œhealthy-aging movement.โ€

NeoGen PSR is a non-invasive skin treatment that uses plasma technology to generate collagen and elastin. Among other things, it can improve fine lines, wrinkles, pigmentation, acne scarring and overall skin quality. It is unique in that it works through the top layer of skin rather than removing it, which โ€œprotects the skin during healing while still creating significant rejuvenation,โ€ Frieden says. NeoGen PSR can act as a less intrusive alternative to procedures such as fillers, blepharoplasty, and more aggressive CO2 laser treatments, making it a great option for those who want to enhance their skin quality without drastically altering their appearance or taking more invasive routes. โ€œWhat I love about NeoGen,โ€ Frieden says, โ€œis that it encourages the body to do what it was designed to do; repair and regenerate.โ€

T-Shape 2 is another non-invasive technology Frieden has noticed gaining traction, which she explains, โ€œcombines radiofrequency, ultrasound cavitation, vacuum massage and laser technology to address body contouring, cellulite, skin tightening and lymphatic drainage.โ€ She has noticed its popularity growing alongside the use of GLP-1 medications, because it helps to โ€œbridge the gapโ€ when โ€œthe scale changes faster than the skin does.โ€ Maybe the most appealing aspect is the lack of downtime. Frieden says that clients not only can, but often intentionally choose to receive treatments โ€œright before vacations, weddings, reunions, photo shoots or other important occasions,โ€ so they can look their best without any recovery time.

Donna Kern, owner and Master Esthetician of Bella Nuova Day Spa, has also noticed this trend of health and longevity taking the forefront in beauty treatments. โ€œOne of the most encouraging trends Iโ€™m seeing is a shift away from the idea that anti-aging has to mean harsh or invasive procedures,โ€ Kern says. โ€œMore clients are looking for ways to support skin quality, collagen health, hydration, firmness, and radiance while still looking natural and feeling like themselves.โ€

This shift is especially rewarding for Kern, whose 23 years of medical experience inspired her understanding of skincare as an amalgamation of factors, rather than just whatโ€™s on the surface. She feels that โ€œthe most meaningful trends are less about chasing one ‘miracle gadget,โ€™ and more about combining professional treatment, strategic technology, and consistent home care in a way that supports the skin long-term.โ€ Bella Nuova specializes in this, and Kern has noticed clients continuously seeking out these holistic approaches.

One of the options Kern has seen clients leaning toward is customized skin-renewal treatments focused on barrier health and collagen support. โ€œThese treatments are tailored to the individual and may include exfoliation, hydration, peptide support, resurfacing, and barrier repair, depending on what the skin actually needs,โ€ Kern says. โ€œWhen you strengthen the skin barrier, support healthy turnover and reduce inflammation, the skin often looks brighter, smoother, and more resilient over time.โ€

Another trend Kern has noticed is professional peels and gentle resurfacing. Carefully selected exfoliants or resurfacing methods are used to โ€œencourage cellular turnover and improve surface texture and tone,โ€ Kern says. This is a recommended option for those looking for โ€œvisible improvement without pushing the skin beyond what it can comfortably tolerate.โ€

Microcurrent and non-invasive firming technology has also been popular as a way to achieve a โ€œmore refreshed, sculpted look,โ€ by stimulating facial muscles and supporting stimulation. Kern recommends it to those seeking a comfortable option that โ€œsupports firmness and tone without aggressive procedures.โ€

Lastly, Kern has noticed clients taking interest in professional home care as part of a youthful-skin strategy. Using targeted ingredients โ€œsuch as antioxidants, peptides, hydrators, and barrier-supportive formulas,โ€ clients can reinforce professional treatments and maintain their effects.

More than anything, Kern emphasizes the importance of clients knowing they have choices regarding their skincare. โ€œYou do not have to choose between doing nothing and doing something invasive,โ€ she shares. โ€œThere is a very effective middle groundโ€ฆ and clients deserve to understand the full range of options available to them.โ€
