Yeah, I’ll say it, Bend. I love PBR. As much as I enjoy a nice chewy oatmeal stout, a light wheaty Kölsch or the hop punch of one of our locally brewed IPAs, in the heat of summer I often find myself craving the light sweet ice-cold embrace of a good ol’ fashioned Pabst Blue Ribbon. Apparently, I’m not the only one. Local artists, at the bidding of PBR, have put together odes to the staple beer for the annual PBR Art competition. You can be a part of judging the creative repurposing of cans, honorary paintings, sculptures, fashions and photographs by showing up at JC’s Bar & Grill on August 1 and have a look for yourself.

Of course, you can’t win blue ribbons without following the rules. All forms of art can be submitted, paintings (a self-portrait while sipping a PBR?), digital media (a Photoshop of an adorable kitten snuggling a PBR?), structural (see last year’s winner, an incredible PBR dress, or maybe go big and think PBR throne). All art entered in the Central Oregon PBR Art competition can enter the national contest at pabstblueribbon.com/art.
