Traveling past Mt. Hood en route to the Source office this morning, I drove through the most post-apocalyptic looking scenery you can imagine (the above picture was taken days ago). At first I thought heavy fog had descended on the flats just north of Warm Springs. But it smelled like I was standing next to a two-story tall bonfire. An orange orb in the sky was the only thing visible. Weird. And scary.

The Central Oregon Interagency Dispatch Center reported this morning that 45,000 acres are ablaze near Clarno (NE of Madras).
