For the second straight night, Pagan Jug Band, a Portland-based old timey jug band (duh) is playing at McMenamins Old St. Francis School. And like last night, the show is free.

The band has been in existence for a while now, playing around the Northwest since 1993 and making appearances at festivals in the region, including Pickathon.

The Pagan Jug Band sound is quintessentially old-timey — focused on bluegrass, but touching on other styles, including an excellent take on zydeco tunes with an excellent deep Louisiana bayou feel, complete with French lyrics.

If you can’t make it out tonight, fret not, because Pagan Jug Band is also playing tomorrow night at McMenamins.
