It would be a shame if Republicans went extinct – they give us so many great laughs.
On the conservative Oregon Catalyst site, somebody has posted three photos today. One shows the late Ronald Reagan clearing brush with a chainsaw. One shows George W. Bush clearing brush. And the third shows Barack Obama hanging curtains.
The implication, in case you’re not into the whole symbolism thing, is that Reagan and Bush were and are manly men, whereas the new Democratic president is a girly man – an implication that was not lost on those who posted witty comments like this one:
“Obama – ‘Oh, I would NEVER use a NASTY chain saw – they KILL TREES!! I would NEVER kill a tree – only babies and only up until they could be born.'”
The three photos and the responses reminded us of the dumbest bumper sticker ever printed – the one showing Bush and Reagan in cowboy hats with the words, “My heroes have always been cowboys.”
Neither Reagan nor Bush was a real cowboy, of course – although at least Reagan played cowboys in the movies and could even ride a horse well, while The Shrub actually was afraid of horses, according to Mexican President Vicente Fox, who described him as a “windshield cowboy” – the type who prefers to drive.
But we guess anybody stupid enough to think that hanging curtains makes a man a wimp is stupid enough to think that wearing a cowboy hat makes a man a cowboy.

It proof he is definently a grandma’s boy. That goes with his hugg a thug attitude. He release the guys we catch killing our friends, our brothers and sisters in arms and he turns them loose, so they can go to Yeman and other places and become leaders of their terrorist groups. I find it interesting that We Americans look to the President as something more than a person. The time wasted on what we think of one party President could be used to truely understand what is happening. Time working is all good be it curtains cutting brush or taking the time to got to work and vote so the American people would know the job that their senitors are doing for them.

Two different things — I was talking about the bumper sticker with Reagan and Chimpy wearing cowboy hats.
And if you think Chimpy’s brush-clearing at his “ranch” was anything more than a photo op that Karl Rove staged because Reagan did it and Rove wanted people to think Chimpy was Reagan II, you’re seriously delusional.
But then, you have to be delusional to be a Republican these days.
Hmmm, just noticed something: In that photo of Reagan taking a horse over a jump, isn’t he using an ENGLISH saddle? What self-respecting cowboy would even TOUCH an ENGLISH saddle??

How many people didn’t vote for Obama wasn’t the point. Somebody said half the people who read this blog are Republicans. But according to a couple of recent polls, only 20% of Americans now identify themselves as Republicans. So it’s ridiculous to claim half the readers are Republicans.

They are/were politicians and policy makers. We should judge them by their accomplishments or lack thereof in that arena, not on what they pretend to be.”
This is the post that really says it like it is, people are getting weary of supporting an image we want truth and integrity not photo ops, get a clue HBM.
csante: At least Obama actually DID work to help poor people during part of his career, although I agree the curtain-hanging this time probably was just a photo op.
And Reagan really did enjoy cutting brush on his ranch (and riding horses). One of the things that infuriated me about The Shrub (in addition to his amazing incompetence, arrogance and mendacity) was the complete phoniness of the man and his Karl Rove-concocted image as a cowboy (he wasn’t), a rancher (he wasn’t), a “regular guy” (he wasn’t) and a brave warrior (he wasn’t). What he was was the privileged scion of an elite, blue-blooded Eastern family that cleaned up or covered up all the messes he got into so that he never had to face the consequences of his own screw-ups.
Oh yeah, and they also helped him avoid serving in Vietnam.
