In an uber-local mash-up of charitable awesomeness, Jesse Roberts of arts organization Rise Up International and Jesse Marshal of Bend’s own folk-punk heroes Larry and His Flask, are planning a trip to Nicaragua to build a recording studio and cultivate art exchanges with Bend’s sister city, Condega. Learn more below and donate to this project at riseupinternational.com.

From February 23rd to March 4th a small group from Rise Up International will be traveling to Nicaragua to conduct art workshops and help with an indigenous music preservation project. The project will consist of an arts exchange. Artwork will be taken and hung at schools, public areas, youth centers, inside & out. We will collaborate with local artists and students in Nicaragua and then bring back the art to hang in Bend, Oregon. Condega is a sister city of Bend and this project is part on ongoing goodwill endeavors to foster positive relationships between the two cities and countries. This project is 100% independent with partial sponsorship from the Bend/Condega sister city group. We are still in need of funding for art and recording studio supplies. Donations can be made by clicking the button below. 100% will go to the Nicaragua project and not for any administrative purposes.
