After last yearโ€™s snowpocalypse caved in roofs and caused area schools to close for snow removal, Senators Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley went to bat for the Bend-La Pine school district.

The school district will receive more than $1 million in Federal Emergency Management Agency money to reimburse costs of last Januaryโ€™s snow removal, and for engineering evaluations.

โ€œThese much-needed funds will help the Bnd-La Pine School District recover from serious damage caused by last winterโ€™s snowstorms,โ€ Merkley said in a press release.

โ€œEnsuring students, teachers and staff are in a safe setting always is a top priority,โ€ Wyden said in the same release.

Update: Redmond School District also received a $464,648 FEMA grant for reimbursement costs from last year’s snow removal.
