As you may or may not know, Bend’s mayor is not elected by voters, but rather appointed by his or her fellow city councilors. We’ll be exploring the question of how we elect the Mayor in the upcoming issue, but in the meantime, we want to know: What do you think? Are you content with the current system, or would you like to have some say?

the mayor of bend , if he or she is elected , would become the leader of central Oregon . this is because the mayor of bend would , a . , be chosen by the people , and , b . , be in central Oregon as opposed to salem or d.c. . however , if everyone in bend suddently decided that they support ” democracy ” , it would take take years for the issue of a bend mayorial election to get on the ballot and then many more years for it to be implemented . the rich white bend establishment does not want the peasants to have freedom , and so far in bend , the peasants don’t have freedom . its time to change that . however , for whatever reason , there is no desire in bend to change this . go figure .
