If you didn’t call in sick to work today, you might want to leave early for a “dentist appointment.” The trails are calling.
While the cool, damp weather has been a wet blanket for many types of summer fun in the last few days, it’s positively transformed the forest. Last week’s dusty, loose trails are now firm and tacky. It smells like moss and bark, the ferns and wildflowers are showy and the mosquitoes have gone into hiding for at least a day or two.
Descending is especially fun and fast. Just remember to ride through the few mud puddles and not around them, as we don’t want our lower, well-trafficked trails even wider than they already are.
