R.I.P.: Former Oregon Gov. Vic Atiyeh, the son of Syrian immigrants and the state’s last Republican governor,ย died of kidney failure last night.ย Atiyeh, who held this office from 1979 to 1987 and is credited with leading Oregon out of the recession in the 1980s, was 91. (Oregon Live)
