Bend Police arrested a 45-year old Bend woman in connection with two brush fires near Sawyer Park. Shortly after 11pm on Saturday, July 26, multiple callers reported a fire on the west side of the Deschutes River. Bend Fire & Rescue quickly contained the fire, then requested law enforcement assistance for a second fire that had just started south of where they were working to extinguish

 the flames.

Officers searched the area and located the woman walking in the area of the fires. They say she had a lighter in her hand when she was contacted. Officers arrested her on suspicion of two counts of reckless burning and one count each of first-degree criminal mischief and second-degree theft. She also had a warrant for a parole violation.
