On January 20th, Americans and the world will celebrate the inauguration of Barack Obama. But perhaps equally important, because Barack’s legacy has yet to be written, on January 19th George W. Bush will spend his last full day in the White House. With the brilliant act of the Iraqi journalist who threw his shoes at W out of shear frustration and anger, the world has been shown the way to say a fitting farewell to George the Second and his incredible Reign of Error (special thanks to Robin Williams!).
Just picture if a million of the estimated 3-4 million people who will attend Barack’s inauguration were to bring with them a pair of usable shoes and throw in a giant pile somewhere near the White House. With this massive pile of shoes, we would send a message to George and the rest of the world that this is not only a celebration of Barack’s inauguration, but a massive display of disgust at Bush’s term in office, and a salute to the hopes for the future. When we are done, a million pairs of perfectly good shoes can go to the poor, the homeless, the former 401K holders, and the future recipients of the bankrupt social security system, as they are all a part of the Bush legacy.

The Saboteur

How about us, as Americans, coming up with ideas for solving our nations problems. It’s clear Wall Street and our executive and legislative branches of government haven’t done a great job of it so far. We’ll have a new President soon who is going to need our support and prayers. Obama has a hell of a job ahead of him and so do we as citizens.
I don’t condone anybody, anywhere throwing anything at our President no matter who he or she is. It’s not funny. If you don’t like Bush it should make you sad, not make you laugh. If you like Bush, it should make you mad. I felt both of these emotions when the shoe throwing occurred.
A big pile of old shoes solves nothing, says nothing and does nothing. Symbolism like this only tells Bush what he already knows – that he is the most unpopular President since Hoover.
Sabotoge and humiliation are easy and quick. Thought takes a little time and shows intelligence.
It was hilarious to see that the respect level of people had fallen to such a low level. Disrespectful, yes but really really funny. Bush is lucky that is all that happened to him given what he has done to those innocent people in that part of the world. So many innocent civilians killed, for what?
The YouTube of George’s Bush’s notorious press confererence in Baghdad has been admired by millions.
Most agree, Bush has given us an entirely new twist to the term “lame duck”.
