I love your annual “Best of Central Oregon” feature and I decided to test your tastes by purchasing some bagels from Rockin’ Daves, your best choice for bagels in Central Oregon. Your praise, to me, was excessively effusive. I lived for several years in San Francisco,a couple of blocks from the New York Bagel Company. Rockin’ Dave’s doesn’t come close: too fat, density fair, not chewy enough. Baking them with bacon, cheese and other items is popular nowadays but doesn’t do anything for these bagels. I prefer Big O’s bagels though they too are nothing to write home about. However, when it comes to pizza, the choice of Pizza Mondo as “Best” is dead on accurate. Pizza Mondo’s pepperoni pizzais as good as anything I’ve eaten anywhere,even Naples, where the pizza was allegedly invented. Pizza Mondo is a treasure.
