Does anyone else see the irony of receiving city of Bend water conservation mailings when if you take a short walk anywhere in Bend you’ll find gallons of water soaking the pavement? The other night I was walking down Awbrey Dr. when a sprinkler must have malfunctioned because there was a small river flowing alongside me. Why do we need green grass? Why does the city pay for sprinkler systems in absurd patches of sidewalk and allow for such water waste? I bet there isn’t a single Bend resident who hasn’t encountered puddles on the road/sidewalk, or misguided spray from these ridiculous sprinkler systems. Pay attention and you’ll soon realize the amount of water wasted!

Right on, Shasha…Water on the street…should be water under the bridge…
Mt Washington has enough water running down the street to float a kayak. The city is failing again on another front. I’ve called the city several time with no results. Any ideas?
Is there a city ordinance against wasting water? If there isn’t there should be. OTOH, just like the ordinances requiring people to cut down weeds on their properties and clear the snow and ice from their sidewalks, it probably would never be enforced.
