Thank you Paul for finally speaking the truth. That spillway is a DEATH SENTENCE! I’m glad that in your entire five summers here (winters in Arizona?) you are finally acting upon “hearing” of the dangers of the spillway.
You know, I’ve been here for 35 years and I always thought that the spillway was just an excuse to give those ducks and geese a nice place to float around near Drake Park. How ridiculous of the city to rely on Drake Park as a tourist attraction. I now see how greed takes root in the hearts of men. By all means, let’s rip that scourge of Bend out and save our brilliant citizens the awful obligation of actually paying attention to what they’re doing. I’m sure a free flowing river with rocks and rapids is the safe way to go!
After reading your letter and reflecting upon it, I had a thought. I’ve not only “heard” of the dangers, but even “seen” the dangers that ROADS present. I think I see a news report every day about someone getting hurt on a road. I’ve had enough! My posse and I are going to get rid of those menaces pronto!
