I certainly agree with K. Golding about drivers who don’t want to pass leaving no room for those that do, but she, and many others, seem unaware of another point.

She says, “There are plenty of safe passing zones, as long as you are only passing one or two cars…”

As I found out in traffic school, it doesn’t matter if it’s safe or not, in Oregon it is illegal to pass more than one car at a time.

  1. In a passing lane (when the road changes from only one lane into two lanes in the same direction of travel) you say that the law says you can only pass one car?

    If two pickups, with campers on top, each towing a boat, are slowing traffic to under 40 mph, and you come to a passing lane, you can only pass one of them?

    I say you are wrong.
