So President Obama has signed the Stimulus Bill to start us on the road to recovery. What I would like to know is, ‘How this is going to help people who didn’t do dumb stuff like take out a loan on a house that was overpriced and over(ly) large, spend to the limit on too many credit cards, and generally live beyond their means?’

The way I read it is that I now own a couple of banks, and part of a couple of car companies. If I’m lucky, and the state of Oregon doesn’t tax me on a federal ‘gift,’ then I’m going to get $13 a week more in my paycheck. Whoopdef***igdoo. What am I missing here?

  1. You are missing the fact that everything is connected. If you live within your means and pay your credit card in full every month you are still vulnerable to other outside forces. The stimulus bill may salvage your home’s value and keep you employed. Sorry that you don’t get a shiny penny today, but you should be thankful for the 44,000 jobs that are estimated to be saved or created in Oregon. That might lead to a dollar tomorrow.

  2. We as American citizens have more to be concerned about than bailouts, and our whooping $13 a week. This money at least is being given to U.S citizens. This is an article that was written by CNN’s Lou Dobbs, this tells where Obama’s sympathies really lie, and it’s not with the American people.

Obama Decrees: Massive Immigration of Hamas Refugees from Gaza

Obama has signed a presidential determination allowing hundreds of thousands of Palestinians to resettle in the United States . Sure, what can go wrong when we allow hundreds of thousands of people who have been, as Mark Steyn memorably described, “marinated” in a “sick death cult,” who voted for Hamas, and 55% of whom support suicide bombings live here and at the American taxpayers’ expense:
By executive order, on January 27, (Federal Register on February 4) Obama has ordered the expenditure of $20.3 million in urgent migration assistance to the Palestinian refugees and conflict victims in Gaza to resettle in the United States . Few on Capitol Hill took note that the order provides a free ticket replete with housing and food allowances to individuals who have displayed their overwhelming support of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in the parliamentary election of January 2006 at US taxpayers expense.

Let’s review some of Obama’s most recent actions since he was inaugurated a little more than two weeks ago:
    * His first call to any head of state as president was to Mahmoud Abbas, leader of Fatah party in the Palestinian Territory .
    * His first one on one interview with any news organization was with Al Arabia television.
    * He ordered Guantanamo Bay closed and all military trials of detainees
    halted.
    * He ordered all overseas CIA interrogation centers closed.

    * He withdrew all charges against the masterminds behind the USS Cole and 9/11.
    * Today we learn that he is allowing hundreds of thousands of Palestinian refuges to move to and live in the US at American taxpayer expense.

So We can’t pay our own bills. Our economy is dying, hundreds of thousands of people are losing their jobs, and now we will pay to move terrorists and their supporters to live free in our country? What about the thousands of our brave soldiers who gave their lives to fight these terrorists?

Obama insulted the Medal of Honor Award winners at their Inauguration Ball by being the first President in over 40 years to not show up and now he inviting their very enemies to come live in our country at our expense? Why not just send all of our weapons over there and allow them to kill us now? Dead it will be less painful!

Now you see why the founding fathers wanted to protect us from a president with devided loyalties! Now do you see why congress and the Supreme Court should have made Obama show proof of natural born citizenship.

“The times are dark, the spirits of ruin are abroad in all their power, and the mercy of God alone can save us.”

“Our reliance is the love of liberty which God has planted in our bosoms. Our defense is the preservation of the spirit which prized liberty as the heritage of all men, in all lands, everywhere. Destroy this spirit and you have planted the seeds of despotism around your own doors. Familiarize yourself with the chains of bondage and you are preparing your own limbs to wear them.”
“Let us have faith that right makes might, and in that faith, let us, to the end, dare to do our duty as we understand it.”
    – President Abraham Lincoln

  3. csante,
Dude, take a deep breath and relax. I find it difficult to believe that Palestinians who might want to, and more importantly be allowed to, immigrate to the U.S. are going to do the country harm. This country has bigger fish to fry than your rants including the tired and false complaints about Obama’s citizenship so take a chill pill and mellow out, OK? You’ll be happier and so will your neighbors and friends (you do have friends I hope).

  4. Snopes.com/politics/obama/palestinians.asp
Do you believe everything that is spewed out of faux news! Get your facts before showing your colors.

  5. Mr. Calm I’m deeply touched for your concern over my mental state and lack of friends, but you really should be more concerned about who is leading your country rather than my neighbors happiness.

dodgebalz, after reading Snopes I stand corrected on the ERMA funds sent to the Palestinians. For the record Lou Dobbs reports for CNN not Fox maybe you should get your facts before spewing.

  6. I have friends who lost their jobs and their homes. They have worked and paid into the sytem for over 30 years. I am sad to see many who question what our president is doing. You have no idea I think of the gravity of this problem and many many good folks who are victims who have never ever overspent or took out loans they thought they could not pay back. These folks were let go and then could not keep up with the payments. They are just one story of millions. As a Christian, I take seriously Our Lord’s commandment to love one another. Some times that means for the common good we all must sacrifice. Common Good…that is the root here. God Bless us all and put into our hearts his will and his love so that we can do what we must do in this dark time in our nation.

  7. Bend is the personification of the nations problems. Big houses, big cars, fewer than one in eleven have served in the military forces, and one month ahead of bankruptcy. And now you asked, what’s in it for me?

  8. Pat:

I believe in God too but why do we continually have to sacrifice because others didn’t or don’t want to? Why should we continue to sacrifice for a government that spends us into oblivion. This has been going on for decades and now at the worst posssible time our government is spending more than ever with money they (actually we) don’t have. Why sould we (not to mention those not even born yet) sacrifice because other citizens, rich and poor alike, and our government can’t control themselves. Why do we have to cut back to pay more to a government staffed by “public servants” that are too disconnected from the average citizen. When was the last time a congressman or senator drove a car or even bought gas? These people dont have a clue. They dont even read a bill, let alone possibly the most important one in history before they vote it in. They are so inept and clueless it’s laughable. Senator Charles Schumer of New York thinks we dont care when hundreds of millions of tax dollars (our money) is spent on “porky amendments.” These people have forgotten who they work for and who their bosses are.

The best thing for the “common good” of this country is to fire EVERYBODY in Washington DC. They work for us and they’re doing a lousy job. Fire ’em all. Leave ’em absolutely flabbergasted in each and every election until every damn one of them are gone. Take the nipple of government away from these careerist idiots taking us down the toilet. Let’s have a “bailout” for the average everyday taxpayer in this country. It won’t cost us “one thin dime” as our President likes to say. All you have do do is vote against EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THEM.

THAT, my friend, would be for the common good.

And remember Pat, God gave us brains to think with and emotions to deal with. Anger is a valid emotion and it’s time to tell our “public servants” their times up and to get the hell out…..before it’s too late.

  9. csante – think about it for a minute

    1. How would you describe the success of America’s foreign policy over the last 45 years? and especially the last 8 years? My humble opinion is that it sucks and it failed. Obama is trying to change that record of disgrace and failure

    2. America is regarded by the rest of the world (the 95% who are our trading partners, customers and neighbors!!!) as the world’s foremost rogue nation

    3. The US played a big part in CAUSING the Palestinian crisis – now it’s time to show mature responsibility and be part of the solution. US citizens won’t like it … but through their government THEY CAUSED IT. Time to be a man (or woman)- in other words.

    4. Lou Dobbs…. pleeeeeaaase!

  10. My wife and I played by the rules – before the hyper-inflated market took off we had almost saved up enough for a “traditional” down-payment – before everything tripled beyond a realistic value. Where we had hoped to buy a hundred and fifty or so thousand house… well, our “almost ten percent” wasn’t quite enough for a four hundred and fifty thousand dollar house.

Did we go out and get a chicken-shit loan that any reasonably awake person would have seen as requiring
some kind of a bailout a year or two down the road.

    No.

Vengeance, is Mine, sayeht Ten Bears – fuck your god, I do hope floats down out of the heavens soon so I can punch its’ lights out. And if it turns the other cheek, I’ll punch its’ loghts out again. Vengeance, is Mine…

When the time comes, that traditional ten percent the wife and I had saved up for that four hundred and fifty thousand dollar house that only worth, today, a hundred and fifty thousand… will be a twenty percent downpayment, and if you lose you ass, I don’t give a rat’s ass.

  11. Thomas Ware,
Hey dude sounds like you should take the same advise that I got from Mr. Calm and take a deep breath and a chill pill. I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting to punch out God, certainly hope will not be floating out of heaven for you.

  12. I too have faith in God, but sitting by and doing nothing for yourself is not a way to live. I grew up “poor” but I was brought up with a work ethic and not to expect handouts. If I could not afford it, I didn’t do it! I was taught to live within my means with no need to impress. I was taught to “pay it forward” but not to encourage stupidity and laziness.

If you seriously think all the “pork” that BO says does not exist is going to the people, you are going to be waiting a very long time for help. The democratic poor of 50 years ago are still poor today and with government “help” will remain so. Let’s give more kabillions to “Acorn” to help assure that Democratic Socialism controls. Socialism is a great idea ’til you run out of other people’s money.
