Missed Boots?

I’m shocked…shocked!!! You didn’t give The Boot to MeShell Ma Bell when she went to Spain on our dimes, or should I say thousands. Maybe she doesn’t see the bumper stickers that say, “Make Local Habit,” because she rides around in limos with tinted windows and can’t see the real world.

Ticketmaster Rip-off

We recently visited Bend, Oregon, and, while there, we were pleasantly surprised that a Bob Dylan concert was happening on August 27, 2010 at the Les Schwab Amphitheater in town. The general admission tickets were available at a price of $48.50, with this price published in several papers, as well as on the website. The announcement stated that tickets could be purchased over the web as well as at the local ticket office in the Mill District, adjacent to the amphitheater. We mentioned this concert to our friends (handicapped and in their 60s) living in Albany, Oregon. Since Bend was such a small town (we live in Los Angeles), my wife offered to drive the five minutes to the ticket booth to save the Ticketmaster charges ($8.50 per ticket = $34 for 4 tickets), which to us retirees represents a hefty sum.

Still Time to Vote for Adventure Galley in the Rock the Space Contest

Adventure Galley, the Bend-rooted band I’ve blogged about and wrote this feature story about, is in the finals of the Toyota Music Rock the Space contest.
The band cruised its way out of the preliminary rounds and then made it into the finals, thanks to the success of their song “Addict” — a track that showcases the big, almost orchestral sounds of the electro rock band.

Chowhounds: Thirty dogs walk into a restaurant…

The menu this past Sunday at the Cascade Lakes Brewing Company Lodge was chicken and rice kibble and a canned chicken mixture, topped with a sprig of parsley. Desert was a bone-shaped biscuit dipped in a carob coating. Some diners ate from the table, while others were content to eat from the floor. Most everyone was done within a matter of seconds, returning to their previous socialization practice of sniffing their neighbors' butts.
This was all part of Bend Spay and Neuter Project's first Dine with Your Dog event, inspired by a popular fundraising effort by the same name in Seattle. Tickets were $10 per dog and included the aforementioned two-course meal while human companions ordered from Cascade Lakes' regular menu. More than 30 tickets were sold, raising $500 for Bend Spay and Neuter Project.
