Last month, my college-grad daughter came home for a while, and I knew precisely what I needed to do: Get baby chicks! My creative kiddo was needed to help me name the two babies we picked up from the local feed store, and of course, to watch over them during their first tender days under a heat lamp. Just like any infant care, tiny chickens need lots of TLC! While immersed in the care and feeding of those cute cheeps, I’ve also been working on this latest edition of Central Oregon Pets. Chickens get some love in Richard Sitts’ story about how to care for the birds in winter. We’re also telling the tale of a rare surgery on a cat at a local vet hospital, highlighting a special program for pet owners with cancer, and sharing where furry friends can come along while you sip wine. It’s always a pleasure putting together this special publication โ€” so thanks for reading!
