A beer festival like this would be tough to pull off in most other places in this country, but here in Bend, this specialty brew celebration has become a huge hit. Now in its third year, the Little Woody features barrel-aged beers from almost all of Central Oregon's breweries, as well as some new additions from out of town. If you like big, bold beers, this is where you should be this weekend. If you're not as adventurous, that's fine, too – there are some lighter specialty beers. Also, there's a Northwest whiskey tasting for the truly bold among us. In addition, you'll find music, food vendors and much more. 5-10pm Friday, Noon-10pm Saturday. One of Bend's most famous residents, pro cyclist Chris Horner, is giving his hometown residents a look into his life as part of Team RadioShack and what it's like to race in the Tour de France. Horner, as many know, suffered injuries in a serious crash during the race and had to withdraw. He's since come back to Bend to recover and is thankfully giving this talk (which includes a Q&A) session at the Tower. $20/Adults, $5/Kids 18 and under. 7pm. Tower Theatre, 835 NW Wall St.

Cherry Poppin Daddies thursday 28
There was a time, back in the mythical 1990s, when Cherry Poppin' Daddies had one of the hottest singles in all the land. Fueled by America's sudden interest in swing music and the dancing that often accompanies the style, “Zoot Suit Riot” became a massive hit and made the Eugene-based band one of the most-heard acts on radio. After a few years off, the Daddies returned to the stage and even appeared at an installment of the Bend Summer Festival a few years back. Now, they're returning to get the eclectic Munch and Music crowd up and swinging. 6pm. Drake Park. Free.

Bend Summer Festival

Downtown is transformed this weekend into the festival grounds for the annual Summer Fest, which includes three days of music, fine art, craft vendors, food, drink and more. The music lineup includes a nice mix of local and touring acts, including Toad the Wet Sprocket, Night Ranger, Mosley Wotta, David Jacobs-Strain and plenty others. And did we mention that Night Ranger, the authors of “Sister Christian” are playing on Friday night? Oh, looks like we did, but it's worth saying twice. Downtown Bend.

Ween

Two years ago, a band came to the Les Schwab Amphitheater and played one of the most ridiculously hilarious and musically diverse sets in the history of the venue. They were called Ween and we're damn pleased to say they'll be back in town on Saturday night to rock our faces off once again. Ween – comprised of “brothers” Gene and Dean Ween – is known to hopscotch between genres, playing everything from incredibly well-done country music to lounge sounds to all out metal. NorthWest Crossing Hullabaloo Street Festival

Up on the far westside of town, the NorthWest Crossing neighborhood is presenting its annual summer celebration, Hullabaloo. The event includes live music from Grammy Award winner Marc Cohn, Mosley Wotta and Franchot Tone, as well as a road cycling race series and plenty of stuff for the kids, including their very own bike race. The Clear Summer Nights concert series kicks off in a major way on Thursday night with a sure-to-rock performance by the friendliest man in the business, Brett Dennen. The smooth-singing redhead is touring in support of his latest album, Loverboy, and is joined by Los Angeles throwback rock act, Dawes, who show off their bluesy indie-rock sound with their new album, Nothing is Wrong. Judging by how many people (about a billion, give or take) entered our contest for tickets to this show, Dennen is likely to pack the ACB courtyard. $20 advance tickets at Newport Market. 6:30pm.
