This was in the Picks last week, but since we got our hands on Finn Riggins' new album, Vs. Wilderness, we have to write more about this Boise, Idaho trio given that said album is incredibly awesome.

Cabaret

Thursday night kicks off a two-week, six-show run of this musical that's set in 1929 Berlin and centers on an American novelist who falls in love with a Cabaret singer. This just might be one of the most innovative theater ventures we've seen in Bend in quite a while. Check back next week for our review of the show. Sep 17-19 and 24-26. $25. 8pm Thursday, Sep 17. Blue Turtle Seduction

K. Cyr

Photographer K. Cyr opens an exhibit of mixed media photographs entitled “One Size Too Small.” Cyr, one of Bend's most promising young photographers, takes a candid lens to approach the correlation between resistance and renewal through the personification of abandoned landscapes. Sister Folk Festival

We're going to go ahead and say it: this might be one of the best Sisters Folk lineups EVER! While the pluckers and strummers still support the bulk of the lineup, there are some more adventurous, not to mention big, names at the fest this year. You can read more about the five acts we recommend you see in the Sound Section, but hit up the website for the complete lineup and then go to the durn thing.

G. Love and Special Sauce

In what is by far the biggest non-LSA show of the year, G. Love finally stops off in Bend, one day before he heads up to the Gorge Amphitheatre to open a trio of shows for some act called the Dave Matthews Band. A longtime favorite in Bend, it should be nice to see G. Love and his band kick out their funky, blues-inspired pop rock. Also, make sure you arrive early so you can see local Eric Tollefson and his band open the show. $20/adv, $23/door. 9pm. Midtown Ballroom, 51 NW Greenwood Ave.

We're not quite sure how it happened, but it's not September, meaning the summer is pretty much over. But before the nights start getting chilly, catch the last warm First Friday of the season. Dr. Jeremy Michael Cashman

Tuscon, Arizona-based trio Jeremy Michael Cashman has been around since 2005, but doesn't play live very often. Because of that they've got to make it good when they do plug in. The band consists of Jeremy Michael Cashman on guitar and vocals, Davey Hendrickson on bass and saxophone and Noah Thomas on moog, theremin and trumpet. Cashman is inspired by love and relationships making for troubling and personal tunes. 8:30pm-2am. Free. Astro Lounge, 147 NW Minnesota Ave.

Nershi-Law Duo

Bill Nershi and Scott Law must love Bend, but really, who doesn't? Friday marks each of their second passes through Bend this year and we're not complaining. Nershi, of String Cheese Incident fame, teams up with Law for an intimate yet totally rocking night of flat-picking at Silver Moon. 9pm, Silver Moon Brewing Co., 24 NW Greenwood Ave., $10.

Lucethursday 6
You may have heard this band without even knowing it. The San Francisco-based band has had its music – mainly the hit “Good Day” – featured on TV shows and movies, including How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days and others. The band has a tasty and delightfully poppy approach to alt rock that's nice and light on the ears. Free. The Summit Saloon & Stage, 125 NW Oregon Ave.

One of Bend's best-known performers is playing his last solo show in Bend before heading down to the Bay Area for good. He'll be playing one more show after this with David Bowers and we'll keep you posted on that. But we recommend checking out this one if you want to fill up on Bowers while you can. 7pm. Free. Shoot Out

with three days? If you said, "Make a movie" you're probably already a
contestant in BendFilm's 72-Hour Shoot Out. This contest gives contestants only
72 hours to write, film and edit their films while competing against fellow
local moviemakers. Check out this event where you can see the final products in
