President Obama will be in Portland Tuesday for a speech and a pair of private fundraisers, according to his campaign. The visit is part of a four-state Western swing for the President who will also be in Washington, California and Nevada next week.
Obamaโs campaign said that he would attend a “grassroots eventโ in PDX to โlay out his vision to rebuild the economy from the middle-out, cut taxes for small businesses and reduce the countryโs deficit.โ Obama is also scheduled to appear later at a private fundraiser at the Portland Museum of Art. Tickets for that even range from $500 to $5,000, according to the Oregonianโs Jeff Mapes.
While neither Washington, California, or Oregon are expected to be battleground states in the November election, they do serve as part of Obamaโs broader fundraising base, an area in which the President has trailed his challenger Republican Mitt Romney in recent months, though Obama still holds the overall edge in fundraising. ย
