AirLink is not to Blame
It has recently been reported that AirLink is unwilling to offer reciprocal coverage for members with neighboring emergency air ambulance service. However, the situation is more complex than the two companies reaching an agreementโฆ
Rein In Kitties
In response to the article on โTime for Cat Management,โ I totally agree with the author. Itโs time to impose cat licensing and consequences for the owners of free-roaming cats. In our neighborhood, we have a cat that kills birds at my birdfeeder, digs holes and poops in my yard and induces my indoor onlyโฆ
Merkley vs Wall Street
Let’s hear it for Jeff Merkley.ย Any of you who watched the testimony of big time Bankster Jamie Dimon [JP Morgan Chase CEO] to the Senate Finance Committee should be proud of our Senator.ย The Republicans on the Committee, especially Jim DeMint of South Carolina were so cravenly obsequious it was nauseating.ย DeMint seemed readyโฆ
Gender Politics Begins with Language
In response to Bill Hauseโs list of injustices (Letters, 7-12) to which men would be subjected if there had been Founding Mothers, they would also experience, on a regular basis, various subtle and insidious ways that our language and use of words serve to โkeep men in their placeโ in todayโs culture. Perhaps most rampantโฆ

Bending The Trend: Believe it or not, this town is getting healthier
When I was 18, I had a solar-powered smoothie cart here in Bend. Every morning I’d wheel my cart off the trailer hitch of my ’87 Four Runner, push with all my might to get it up the sidewalk ramp, then lift the solar panels into position. Next to Starbucks downtown by the bench withโฆ

Darkest Knight: There are no heroes in our Gotham City
This may be the darkest, the grimmest, the most depressing summer popcorn movie ever. It is not summery. It is not popcorny. There is no adventure here. There is no escapism. There is only grinding reality to be endured in the harsh mirror it holds up to us in the audience. For there can beโฆ
