Local photographer Brad Goldpaint is earning some accolades this week form MSNBC (soon to be just NBC) for his captivating portraits of the Oregon night sky. Goldpaint recently compiled some of the images that he has gathered over the past three years at places like Tumalo Falls, The Three Sisters Wilderness and Crater Lake into a slideshow showcasing his painstakingly shot time-lapse images.

Obama To Visit Oregon Next Week
President Obama will be in Portland Tuesday for a speech and a pair of private fundraisers, according to his campaign. The visit is part of a four-state Western swing for the President who will also be in Washington, California and Nevada next week.

The day when the Tour des Chutes occurs is always Gary Bonacker’s favorite day of the year. This year, however, the popular cancer-benefit bike ride was without its biggest proponent.
Bonacker, the founder of the event and co-owner of Sunnyside Sports, remains in the Intensive Care Unit, suffering from seizures caused by a brain tumor that Bonakcer has lived with for the last nine years. Though Bonacker remains in critical condition after being admitted to the hospital on July 12, the July 14th benefit event went on and, according to event director Leslie Cogswell, it was a smashing success with approximately 1,400 riders participatingโ400 more than last year.
Pitbull Will go to Kodiak, Alaska
Apparently, Pitbull wants to be sure they sell bearspray at the Kodiak Walmart ‘cause he’s going there to perform after that city’s Walmart got more than 70,000 likes on Facebook in a recent Walmart social media campaign.
The population of Kodiak, which is the largest island in Alaska, is only about 13,000.

Opening Arguments Heard in Bray Case
Opening arguments were made today in the trial of accused rapist Thomas Bray.
Bray, a former instructor at Central Oregon Community College, has been accused of various sex crimes by two women, one of which was his student at COCC.
