A pair of Bend residents were handed a stiff fine by the state Department of Environmental Quality for allegedly failing to properly address a leaking sewage treatment system at their property in Waldport.

Kathy Louise Trudel and Karin Marie Denman were fined more than $105,000 for failing to fix a leaking septic system at their property on the Alsea Highway.

Real Life Cannonball Run Driver Cited Twice in Same Day by Oregon Police

A New York driver was stopped twice on Tuesday by state troopers in two different counties for speeding during an Cannonball Run-style rally race that spanned at least three states. Police said they were tipped off by law enforcement from Idaho and Nevada that participants in the Bullrun Rally would be traveling through the state and had drawn complaints from motorists.
