Rather than open to long lines, Sounds Fast will instead take the day to focus on what truly matters.
“Black Friday has turned into such a whirlwind, and that’s just not what the holidays are about for us,” said Colin Mecey, owner of Sounds Fast.
“We’d rather spend the day with our families, and be grateful for the people around us. We’re running great deals all month long—just without the pressure or chaos. It’s a bit of a leap for a small business to skip the biggest shopping day of the year, but we really believe it’s the right thing to do, and we hope our community feels the same.”
This marks the first time Sounds Fast has opted out of Black Friday since its opening in 2001, and the decision has been met with overwhelming support from customers and community members who share a desire for a slower, more intentional holiday season.
“Our crew gives their all, day in and day out,” exclaims Oliver Ohlinger, Store Manager at Sounds Fast. “This weekend gives us a chance to step back, recharge, and really be present with our loved ones. Personally, I’m grateful to not have to travel back to town immediately after enjoying Thanksgiving dinner with my family, and the rest of the team is looking forward to quality time off. We’ll still have promotions throughout November, but this Black Friday weekend is about slowing down and remembering what really matters.”
Sounds Fast will return to normal business hours on Monday, December 1st, and encourages customers to shop locally and thoughtfully throughout the holiday season.
