Skylark Children’s Academy will host Truck Time, a free community event for young children and their families, on Saturday, May 16 from 9:30–11:30 a.m. at Skylark’s campus – 301 NW Crosby Drive in Bend.
Designed especially for young children, Truck Time offers families the opportunity to explore service and specialty vehicles up close, meet the professionals who operate them, and learn how they serve the community through a hands-on, interactive experience.
Participating organizations include the Deschutes County SWAT Team, Cascade East Transit, Adventure Medics, VRCCO’s Pet Ambulance, Empire Construction, and Badlands Excavation, with vehicles ranging from emergency response units to construction equipment and transit buses.
“Children are naturally fascinated by big trucks and the people who operate them,” said Erin Maigaard, founder of Skylark Children’s Academy. “Truck Time is designed to channel that excitement into an excing and educational experience where children can ask questions, engage with community helpers, and learn through exploration.”
The event is part of Skylark Social Club, a new initiative from the school focused on creating free, family- friendly experiences that foster connection among families in Bend through play, enrichment, and community engagement.
Earlier this year, Skylark launched the series with Hearts for Hope, a Valentine-themed event where families participated in parent-child yoga, decorated cookies, and created handmade Valentine pillows for children staying at the Ronald McDonald House Charities.
Truck Time is open to both enrolled Skylark families and the broader Bend community. Admission is free, though RSVP is required.
