WHAT: May Day Strong is a coordinated national day of action, led by the May Day Strong coalition, bringing together workers, immigrants, students, and families in a growing list of thousands of rallies, marches, walkouts, town halls, and teach-ins.

Organizers are calling on working people to participate in a collective work and school stoppage: no school, no work, no shopping.

WHEN: Friday, May 1, 2026, 1:30 – 5 p.m.

WHERE: Redmond Public Library, Community Room 2, 827 SW Deschutes Avenue, Redmond

WHO: Indivisible Redmond is hosting a community gathering in Redmond to support the growing grassroots movement that addresses the real issues of affordability and unchecked corporate power. The gathering will feature a showing of the film Norma Rae followed by a discussion of our power when we organize as workers. This gathering provides a place to be with others who have pledged to no work, no school, and no shopping.

WHY: Families across the country are facing rising costs of housing, healthcare, groceries, and child care while billionaires and corporations attack our neighbors, shred government budgets to fill their pockets, and reshape the rules to protect their power. On May 1, participants will demand:

โ—Tax the rich so our families, not their fortunes, come first.

โ—No ICE, NO War. No private army serving authoritarian power.

โ—Expand democracy, not corporate rule. Defend free and fair elections.

A commitment to nonviolent action is a core principle behind all May Day events. All hosts and participants are expected to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who may disagree.
