Bend residents may soon have a say about whether they want their city spending money enforcing marijuana laws, a push that if successful could effectively decriminalize pot in Bend.
Local activist Ron Boozel submitted the preliminary paperwork last week to city hall that will clear the way for a public referendum on marijuana decriminalization.

A steep tariff on imported tires from China that was opposed by local tire retailing giant Les Schwab has survived a challenge at the World Trado Organization. Redmond Tax Activist Sizemore Wins Early Release
Redmond resident and anti-tax activist Bill Sizemore was released from jail today in Marion County where he had been serving a sentence on tax evasion charges. Sizemore was released after serving 18 days of a 30-day sentence according to a report from the Oregonian’s Jeff Mapes who wrote that Sizemore was released early after earning credit for good behavior.
Bend PD To Public: Beware the Crosswalk
Bend Police announced today that they will roll out another crosswalk enforcement campaign this week. Police officers will be out on Wednesday midday at Franklin and Harriman to monitor if drivers are yielding to pedestrians in the crosswalk near the rail underpass.
