A Toast to Happy Hour

The Hudson in downtown Bend has launched its Happy Hour menu. It will feature new small plates, specially priced oysters, crab claws along with cocktails, beer on tap and wine by the glass. Happy Hour is Wednesday through Saturday, 4-5:30pm. The Hudson is a live-fire chophouse and social club on NW Wall Street. Everything is cooked over wood and charcoal. The restaurant opened in February and added its Happy Hour menu on May 22.

An Expanded Focus on Food

Austin Mercantile is now called Austin Kitchen Wine Bar & Mercantile. The owner, Sara Hammond, celebrated her one-year anniversary on May 21. In a newsletter, she says moving forward, her focus will be more on the restaurant side with food, local beers and hard-to-find wines. The menu is updated seasonally. Currently it features Big Skiโ€™s Pierogis, meatballs, flatbreads, bruschetta, paninis and shared apps like onion dip, lemon hummus and charcuterie. Nana Cโ€™s Lobster truck is also returning on a weekly basis for the summer. The space will still have retail items, but that will solely be a curation of local art and handmade gifts. Visitors to Austin Kitchen, which is in Brookswood Plaza in SW Bend, can also enjoy live music several nights a week.
