The Sisters Farmers Market kicks off Sunday, June 7 with more than 45 vendors offering fresh produce, meats, eggs, baked goods, artisan foods, flowers, handmade art, clothing, home and yard décor. On opening day, Sisters Community Garden and students from Sisters High School’s greenhouse class will be at the market selling perennials, flowers and veggie starts.
Sisters Farmers Market Director Willa Bauman told the Source that new vendors this year include cheese from Windy Acres Dairy, Marquam Hill Berries, Mexican food from REINA and quail meat and eggs from Lost Grace Farm. Last year more than 22,000 people attended the Sisters Farmers Market.
The market also offers a Power of Produce Club for children ages 14 and under, now in its second year. It’s an opportunity for kids to meet growers, complete educational activities and buy fruits and veggies at the market with $5 coupons each Sunday they participate. Last year 192 youngsters from Sisters, Bend, Redmond and other parts of Central Oregon participated with a total of $2,620 distributed. Kids can sign up at the Info Booth.

The market is managed by nonprofit Seed to Table. “Sisters Farmers Market is more than a place to shop for fresh and local foods; it’s also a space to celebrate the incredible food and creativity of Central Oregon,” Bauman said.
On Sunday, June 14, the High Desert Food and Farm Alliance will launch VeggieRX in Sisters with free cooking demos by Roots at Heart Nutrition. VeggieRX is a fresh produce prescription program through HDFFA. Medical providers refer participants affected by food insecurity or special dietary needs. On June 21, the Kids Entrepreneur Market will have a booth with children ages 7-17 selling their own products.
