After less than a year in business, the French Market is now closed. The restaurant opened in May 2017 in the former Riverside Market location on Riverside Blvd.
“The slow season is too slow for us to stay profitable,” co-owner Phil Lipton told the Source Tuesday. “We met many friendly patrons. We thank them for their support and wish we could continue to refine our service and menus.”

Big mistake to let go of their Michelin star chef when they did….
Shocking…
Hope the future holds something great for this neighborhood space.
Bring back riverside market!! I really dont like the way they were so anti the people at that business aka the locals who have lived there 3 time longer than any of their customers. Such a blatant act of gentrification and not a damn care about anyone who really would bring business to them. Good riddance.
Yeah, well…it was a total mismatch for the neighborhood. Riverside Market was awesome, casual, great food….French?…Really? No surprise here…pretty sure the Riverside Market didn’t have to rely on tourists to survive. Someone buy this spot and transform it back!!!!!
I really like Phil, but they should have improved upon the existing model of the Riverside Market. An improved menu, service, bar, and kitchen, along with the building improvements could have made this spot a huge attraction, and money maker. I wish they would have understood the hood a little better. I miss the market part of the market also. It was so convenient. Make simple high quality food, at an affordable price, and this place will be fun again, and it will flourish.
